<Poem>
鏡湖三百里，
菡萏發荷花。
五月西施採，
人看隘若耶。
回舟不待月，
歸去越王家。
<End Poem>
<Translation>
On the Mirror Lake three hundred li broad
The tender shoots of the lotus put forth their flowers.
In the 5th month Hsi Shih comes to pluck them.
Men come to gaze on the narrow Yo Yeh.
When she rows home she does not wait for the moon,
For she must get back to the King of Yüeh.
